  • Pet emergency kit
  • Your pet’s birthday party will most likely consist of many people and their pets. While you’re busy celebrating, you must also stay prepared for any unforeseen circumstances. An emergency kit for pets is important to ensure that all pets at the birthday party remain safe.

Wiggles’ emergency kit for dogs and cats includes all necessary medicines and equipment needed during an emergency along with a guidebook that instructs you on how to use the items in the kit.

It is also important to keep a vet’s number handy and preferably one is who is available at odd hours as well. Saving numbers of online veterinarians such as Wiggles’ expert vets is also helpful.

  • Know your pet
  • Do not overdo it. If your pet is the kind who likes their peace and quiet, planning a birthday party with people and other pets may not be the best idea. Similarly, if your pet is social you can plan a day out for them or even throw a party. The key is to ensure that your pet has the best time with you.

Now that we know the essentials of a pet’s birthday party, let’s look at some things you should absolutely avoid for your dog or cat’s birthday.

3 things to avoid at a pet’s birthday party:

  • Keeping human food on the table
  • Many party foods and snacks like chips/wafers, chocolates, alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and the like can be toxic for pets. When throwing a party, the chances of your pet dog or cat dropping the food/drinks or even consuming them is very likely. It’s best to avoid toxic food at a pet’s birthday party. If you cannot avoid them, ensure you keep them out of reach of all the pets. It is also not recommended to keep cat or dog treats on the table as the pets may get excited and jump on the treats together.

  • Using hazardous decorations
  • Birthday party decorations like confetti, candles, party poppers and snow sprays can be harmful to pets. A pet could eat the plastic confetti leading to an upset stomach. Many pets are afraid of fire, hence, a candle may trigger fear in them. Party poppers make a loud sound when they pop, some pets can get scared of this sound and act unusually. Snow sprays on the other hand can be toxic if licked. It is important to think about your pet’s birthday decorations thoroughly before using them.

  • Playing loud music
  • Did you know that a pet’s hearing is four times more sensitive than that of humans? Loud music may be enjoyable to us but it can be very disturbing for some pets. Loud noises can damage a pet’s hearing organs, trigger feelings of stress and anxiety and even cause trauma. Your pet’s birthday should be a fun and memorable experience for all pets. Playing soft music or party music at a low volume will be appreciated by all pets and humans alike.
